The Council has released the latest edition of its Spotlight on Sentencing Circular.

The newsletter features information on sentencing across Scotland, as well as updates on the Council’s work and the sentencing guidelines currently in development or in force.

Key highlights featured in this edition include:

  • new sentencing guidelines on rape offences now in force
  • findings from a national survey on public understanding and perceptions of sentencing
  • the Council’s response to the Sentencing and Penal Policy Commission’s report
  • and the winner of our high school essay competition meeting with the Lord Justice Clerk.

Access the newsletter on our website to read all these updates and more. If you don’t want to miss the next edition of the newsletter, email sentencingcouncil@scotcourts.gov.uk with NEWSLETTER in the subject line to be added to our mailing list.
