New interactive resource
The second in a series of interactive case studies is now available on our website as part of our educational resources.
The interactive case studies follow fictitious characters through realistic court cases enabling website users to make decisions about what happens next. The website user then decides what sentence they would give, if they were the judge.
The new case study takes place in the justice of the peace court and follows Gillian, who is accused of speeding.
The case studies are part of a range of website resources which include introductory videos relating to sentencing practice, and information pages explaining how a judge decides a sentence and what sentences are available in Scotland.
All the information is linked to our jargon buster which explains legal terminology in easy to understand language.
