Prosecutor member awarded CBE

Council activity - engagement
6th January 2016

Catherine Dyer, the prosecutor member of the Council, has been awarded a CBE for her services to law and order.

Catherine, who is the Crown Agent and Chief Executive of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, was nominated to sit on the Council by the Lord Advocate.

Council Chair Lord Carloway said: “I would like to congratulate the Crown Agent on this well-deserved award which marks her significant contribution to Scotland’s justice system.

“In recent years, among other achievements, she has gained recognition for her work in the prosecution of hate and domestic abuse crimes and in promoting equality and diversity in the COPFS.”

Catherine recently discussed her Council role in a Scotland on Sunday feature, saying:

“As one of the legal members of the Council, I feel very privileged to be part of such an exciting and historic development in Scots Law. Over the decades since I first qualified as a Scottish solicitor there have been many changes to the legal system, and no doubt many more are to come. The creation of this council brings further modernisation and transparency.”
