Public are being invited to give their views on new sentencing guideline

Members of the public are being invited to give their views on a new sentencing guideline setting out the steps taken by courts in making sentencing decisions, and the factors which may be taken into account.

Wide ranging survey reveals public attitudes towards sentencing

The Scottish Sentencing Council has published a new report exploring public knowledge and attitudes towards sentencing in Scotland, which was carried out by the independent research organisation Ipsos MORI.

Consultation on draft sentencing guideline has now closed

The 12 week consultation on the draft sentencing process guideline has now closed.

2018/19 Annual Report laid before Parliament and published

20th September 2019

The Scottish Sentencing Council's 2018-19 Annual Report was submitted to the Cabinet Secretary for Justice on Tuesday 17 September 2019. It was subsequently laid before Parliament on Thursday 19 September 2019.
