Scottish Sentencing Research Symposium
The Council recently hosted the inaugural Scottish Sentencing Research Symposium, an event which welcomed experts from across the UK to offer perspectives on sentencing research.

Council publishes report on the sentencing of stalking offences in Scotland
The Council has published a new literature review examining the sentencing of stalking offences in Scotland.

Prison visits
Council members visited HM Young Offenders’ Institution, Polmont and HM Prison, Low Moss to find out more about what happens after offenders are sentenced to time in custody.

Scottish Sentencing Council visit to HMP Greenock and the Risk Management Authority
As part of its commitment to engage with and understand the broader justice system, the Council was delighted to be able to return to visiting justice partners with a visit to HMP Greenock and the Risk Management Authority at the start of December. The Council was able to meet with Scottish Prison Service staff and prisoners while touring the prison, and was given insight into the challenges facing the SPS and the RMA by senior leaders from both organisations.
