The Lord Justice General has appointed Sheriff Iain Fleming of the sheriffdom of Glasgow and Strathkelvin to become the new sheriff member on the Scottish Sentencing Council.

Following consultation, the Scottish Sentencing Council has finalised a new sentencing guideline setting out the process for all sentencing decisions in Scotland.

The Scottish Sentencing Council has today published in-depth research into public perceptions of sentencing for sexual offences. The independently conducted research was carried out on the Council’s behalf by ScotCen Social Research.
